Why do we ask for a recommendation for new participants?

Because our focus is on education and exploration, we seek individuals who are engaged in learning, curious about ocean science, and willing to explore new people, places and things. Participants work, travel and live closely together in a learning community, and for that reason, we want to hear from people who can speak to your character, ability to get along with others, motivation and attitude so we know that you are a good fit for our program. This can be from a teacher, coach or colleague. The exception: past participants of a Sea Star Exploration program who have been invited to return are not required to submit a recommendation.
